32 HIP HOP / RNB www.guestlist.net Issue 43 / 2012 E-40 & DJ Quik with Fever 105 @ HMV Forum EMINEM This Detroit rapper is perhaps one of the biggest white rapping icons of this generation to make a breakthrough into a predominantly African American dominated rap game. Eminem (aka slim shady) had the humblest of beginnings troubled with personal, financial and psychological problems through large parts of his life. The illustrious Rolling Stones Magazine has given him the title 'King of Hip Hop'. His controversial yet humorous nature of lyrics makes him a stand out personality in the rapping world. His volatile and unpredictable nature gives him an extra cutting edge in delivering subliminal bars. Eminem first official album was 'Infinite', and although it did not particularly do well, the failure of this album marked a change in his rapping persona and style. Eminem came back with a bang and released his first major studio album the Slim Shady LP in 1999. This album acted like a trampoline in propelling him to stardom. Several successful albums followed over the next decade such as the Marshall Mathers LP, The Eminem show, Encore, Relapse, Recovery and several other bonus albums. In recent times Eminem has formed a formidable duo with MC Royce da 59 and together they released an album called Bad meets Evil: The Sequel. Eminem can look back on a fantastic illustrious career but in the coming years we will find out what more this lyrical genius has in store for us before he decides to call it a day at the office.
