GOLD AND BLACK ILLUSTRATED VOLUME 27, ISSUE 6 77 Kentucky teams' offensive numbers, a central theme to any offensive recruit and a sales pitch that basically already had one recruit at "Hello." "He was going over their receiving stats from the last few years and then told me I had an offer," McCoy said of his unofficial visit, during which he committed immediately upon being of- fered. "I fell in love as soon as I saw the stats. They throw the ball a lot. I had to commit." That reputation also certainly helped lure Plummer, a 6-foot-5, 215-pound QB who's expected to graduate high school in Gilbert, Ariz., in December and enroll at Purdue in January. He chose Purdue over South Carolina and a number of other higher-profile of- fers, though he'd opted out of partici- pating in most high-exposure sorts of quarterback showcases in the spring. Purdue seems to have gotten a posi- tive response from its initial target list in terms of getting prospects on campus, either for junior days in the winter or spring or camps or unofficial visits this summer. During those visits, the program's new training center complex — taking shape as its August opening nears — has stood as a tangible, brick-and-mor- tar symbol of the investment Purdue's made in football and the new direction it hopes is currently being charted. "It's new everything, new coaching staff, new faces," Johnson said, "and I feel like the coaches are determined to make it something special there, and people are jumping on board to try to make it a reality." j www.BobRohrmanSubaru.com Bob Rohrman Subaru Buy a Subaru and Keep Indiana Driving.
