It sure looks like it could be setting up that way, said Louie Vac- cher, who covers the NU for WildcatReport.com on the Rivals network. Fitzgerald has coached Northwestern to a pair of 10-win seasons and two bowl championships in his 11 years as head coach, but he's never been close to a league title. With 17 returning starters, though, including one of the best quarterback-running back tandems in the Big Ten, the Wildcats seemed primed to push Wisconsin — and whoever else tries to make a run. "I think Northwestern should at least be in the hunt," Vaccher said. "The defense is fast and athletic, led by an experienced secondary. Offensively, it doesn't get much better than (Clayton) Thorson and (Justin) Jackson. The Big Ten schedule is front-loaded, so the Wildcats will find out where they stand right away." Stephen J.
