Letters, photographs and manuscripts welcome. hether it's vehicles or magazines, it's always more enjoyable to work on something you know is going to be around a while. That's why I'm always excited when our annual buyer's guide rolls around. With more than 170 pages of company, product and service listings—plus the usual month's worth of editorial content—this is the issue shops like to keep around all year long. Skeptical? I invite you to stop by our booths at the big industry trade shows this fall and listen to the stories from readers who come to get a fresh copy because their original is either worn out from overuse or keeps "walking away" to other desks in the building. It's easy to see why. So-called buyer's guides have been a staple in our industry for decades, and even with the advent of Google and the internet, they are still popular today—mainly because they can quickly direct you to what you need, when you need it, without a hassle. Ours goes a step further, containing only contact information from companies we've worked with and know carry the parts that professionals use and trust. We call them Recognized Industry Suppliers, and the idea is to save you time (and therefore money) by connecting you directly with businesses that understand what it takes to properly serve the aftermarket. Those alphabetical Company Contact listings begin on page 81, and include basic information for more than 500 suppliers that offer parts and services for performance, restyling, hot rod, electronics and related businesses like yours. Enhanced half-page list- ings provide further information on select partners you may want to get to know better. Category listings begin on page 145. They contain major product categories from across the specialty automotive aftermarket, and then sub-categories that quickly direct you to the exact product or service you're seeking—from Auto Reconditioning to Wheels & Tires, and everything in between. And if you happen to be searching on your computer or phone, our online version is there to help as well. Visit ts.nbmguide.com. Industry diversification has made THE SHOP GUIDE 2017 more valuable than ever. No company ever wants to tell a client "no." So, the next time a customer comes in and asks for something outside of your usual product niche, you'll know just where to turn to find it. So, take care of this issue—it needs to last you for the next 12 months. And if it happens to disappear? No problem—we're used to requests for extras.
