Here are a couple of things to make the most of in this amazing part of south- east Asia: It's cheap as fuck With an average meal costing around 60p, there is no excuse to not indulge. Bargaining in places is expected but don't take the piss, this is people's livelihood. The food is amazing No matter how much it tries to be replicated back at home, a mouth- watering green curry or delicious pad Thai will never taste the same as it does over there. Learn (some of) the language As well as getting 'local' prices, you will get less harassed and more respected. Do a bit of research on day- trips The thought of riding on an elephant or posing with a tiger may sound great, but the truth is these animals are treated very badly! There are some great sanctuaries for rescued animals that are just as an amazing experience. Such as the Boon Lott's Elephant Sanctuary. The partying is immense Go to any island and there will be neon face paint, buckets of vodka and awesome baselines that could wake the dead. The most famous party is, of course, the full moon party in Koh Pah Ngan which occurs ones a month.
