CELEBRATING OFF-ROAD HEROES SCORE CONGRATULATES THE ORMHOF 2017 INDUCTEES SCORE International will now be the presenting Sponsor for the 2017 Off-Road Motorsports Hall Of Fame Induction ceremony that will be held at the South Point Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada on Monday, October 30, 2017. SCORE and the rest of the off-road industry will be honoring four new inductees who have each contributed to the sport of off-road. DAVE EKINS Dave Ekins is known to SCORE racers and enthusiasts as one of the first motorcycle riders that started what is known today as the SCORE Baja 1000 race. Ekins, along with Bill Robertson, rode to establish the first timed and documented recorded run from Tijuana to La Paz on a motorcycle back in March of 1962. The race would become the Mexican 1000 and then ultimately the world famous, SCORE Baja 1000. The full story on their adventure was chronicled by Mark Kariya in the February 2017 issue of SCORE Journal. BOB GORDON Known to many SCORE racers and enthusiasts at “Baja Bob” Gordon had a long racing career in Baja driving other legendary racers like Frank “Scoop” Vessels, Malcolm Smith and his son, Trophy Truck and NASCAR driver Robby Gordon. Bob Gordon won many races in his Chenoweth buggy and later drove with the “BFG Blazers” sponsored by BFGoodrich tires. Bob won the SCORE Baja 1000 in 1987 with Malcolm Smith and later teamed up with his son Robby and daughter Robyn 1990 for a SCORE Baja 1000 class win. Gordon continued to compete in NORRA events until his death in 2016. BILL SAVAGE Savage was well known in the off-road racing community as an innovator for the sport. Owner and operator at TMAG welding, Savage built a variety of off-road racing components for race cars and was a Tech Director at SCORE for many years. Savage’s first SCORE Baja 1000 race was in 1979, where he won his class and later in his career, partnered with Todd Clement to start Wide Open Baja, which is still a major component to introducing people to SCORE racing. Savage later changed the name of his company from TMAG to SPD Products which has built race vehicles that have won the SCORE Baja 500 and 1000 over the years, as well as vehicles for NASA and other special projects. CLIFF FLANNERY Flannery is the owner and creator of Crandon International Off-Road Raceway in Wisconsin, a world-class raceway where many off-road racers have competed. Flannery started the raceway in 1968 after an off-road group wanted to have a 101-mile race around the town of Crandon. The first track was nothing more than a mud-pit, but by the mid-1970’s Flannery and his brother Jack, an ORMHOF inductee for his racing career, built a full short course track and facility nearby. Today, Crandon International Off-Road Raceway is one of the very few off-road facilities outside of the American Southwest and has been in operation for nearly 50-years. The raceway’s success led Flannery to donate money in support of local youth and charity organizations that over the years, has totaled more than $2-million dollars
