The beanstalk will grow and provide you with the means to climb sky-high and nd your treasures. Just as Jack was able to elevate himself from his lowly status by taking advantage of opportunities, so too has the humble "ground operator" of the past arisen to meet dynamic market demands and become a global partner in events, meetings and incentive travel. Yes, I'm talking about destination management companies (DMCs). In this issue, we showcase outstanding DMCs in Asia (pg 10) that have made their mark in the region's markets. DMCs have come far from the early days as small enterprises that oered airport meet-and-greets, transportation, package tours and recreational activities for groups. From the changing economic climates of boom and gloom, DMCs have undergone restructuring and consolidation to emerge as global partners. While delegates traverse the exciting terrain the world has to oer, let us turn our eyes to the high seas as the waters are churning with cruising options that are starting to lure planners away from land-based destinations and activities. Find out what cruise lines are oering to excite the jaded palates of well-travelled delegates (pg 32). Also, get updated on the top 10 innovations of the year (pg 42) that are generating the buzz at MICE events. I WELCOME YOUR COMMENTS.
