Recruiting Stars Devin Asiasi TE 4 Transferred to UCLA in the offseason after catching two passes for 18 yards and a score last year. Ben Bredeson OG 4 Started eight games as a true freshman and was a Football Writers Association of American Freshman All-American. Slated to start again at left guard. Devin Bush Jr. LB 4 Became a special teams standout in his first season and played linebacker in seven games, notching 12 tackles. He's slated to start in the middle of the defense this year. Kekoa Crawford WR 3 Played in all 13 games and caught four passes for 47 yards, while he also carried three times for 15. He'll vie for more play- ing time this season. Kingston Davis RB 3 Rushed twice for 17 yards in the opener against Hawai'i and then didn't carry again. Transferred to Independence Commu- nity College in Kansas. Michael Dwumfour DT 3 Notched two tackles (one for loss) against Hawai'i last year, his only game action. He's in line to factor into the two-deep this year. Nick Eubanks TE 4 Played in one game last year, but did not catch a pass. Should factor into the passing game this season. Chris Evans RB 3 Played in all 13 games as a frosh and made one start at slot receiver, and was the team's second-leading rusher with 614 yards. One of the favorites to start this year. Rashan Gary DE 5 Played in all 13 games as a freshman, recording 27 stops, five tackles for loss and one sack. Expected to start and shine this year — several outlets included him on their preseason All-Big Ten squads; Sporting News even listed him as a preseason All-American. Devin Gil LB 3 Played in seven games on special teams and saw action at linebacker in four, notching two solo tackles and four assists. Vying for time as a backup this year. Lavert Hill CB 4 Saw the field in 11 games, including nine at corner, and notched two tackles, a fumble recovery and one pass broken up. Should start at corner this year. Khaleke Hudson LB 3 Played in all 13 games on special teams and saw action at safety in two, contributing eight stops, an assisted tackle for loss and one pass broken up. He also tied for the team lead with two blocked punts and should start at viper this year. Dytarious Johnson LB 3 Never made it to campus due to academic issues and is now enrolled at Eastern Illinois. Nate Johnson WR 3 Saw action in three games and caught one pass for four yards last season. Is in the mix for more snaps this year and could also return punts. Ron Johnson DL 4 Redshirted in 2016 and did not see game action. Vying for playing time at both tackle and end this fall. Carlo Kemp DE 4 Played in two games as a freshman. Made huge strides this spring and should be a factor on the defensive line. David Long CB 4 Played sparingly in four games, slowed by injury. In the mix to start this season. Elysee Mbem-Bosse LB 4 Played in seven games, primarily on special teams. Extremely athletic and in the mix for playing time this year. Eddie McDoom WR 3 Played in all 13 games as a slot receiver and caught five passes for 59 yards, while adding 16 rushes for 160 yards on sweeps. Primed for a better sophomore season. Sean McKeon TE 3 Played in four games and caught two passes for 10 yards last season. He figures to play more this year. Josh Metellus DB 3 Played in nine games with one start (the Orange Bowl) and notched 15 tackles with one sack. He'll likely start at safety this year. Ahmir Mitchell WR 4 Flamed out after a promising spring and was off the team before fall. Transferred to Rutgers, but tore his ACL in April. Quinn Nordin PK 3 Redshirted in 2016, but is the favorite to handle placekicking and kickoff duties after an impressive spring. Michael Onwenu OL 4 Played in nine games last year in a reserve role and is one of the favorites to start at right guard … if he keeps his weight in check. Brandon Peters QB 4 Has made great gains after redshirting in 2016 and has a legitimate chance to start this year. Stephen Spanellis OL 3 One of the spring's pleasant surprises after redshirting in 2016. Plays with an edge and finishes blocks. Josh Uche LB 3 Played in four games as a freshman and notched three tack- les with a forced fumble. Is in the mix for more playing time this year. Kareem Walker RB 4 Redshirted in 2016 while adjusting to college life. Had a solid spring and could be in the mix for carries. 2016 CLASS OVERVIEW
