82 ■ THE WOLFPACKER ■ BASKETBALL RECRUITING "It went by quickly," McCormack said. "It was definitely a good experience with Loaded. It has been non-stop hard work the last three years. "You always have to have the motivation to get better. A lot of people might think, 'He always dominates,' but that wasn't al- ways the case. I've put in the hard work, diet, nutrition and a lot of weight loss and skill development." McCormack, who has lost more than 25 pounds, has been impressive throughout the spring and summer. Rivals.com now ranks him No. 37 overall in the class of 2018. NC State, Auburn, Duke, Florida State, Georgetown, Georgia Tech, Kansas, Lou- isville, LSU, Maryland, Miami (Fla.), Vir- ginia, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest and oth- ers have all offered McCormack. He has unofficially visited NC State each of the past three Junes. Having a chance to get to know the Pack coaches was a major part of the last trip. "It was good to sit down with Coach Ke- atts," McCormack said. "I was able to get a feel for the new staff. I have noticed them at games. I've been in contact with them, and they have said they'll watch me play. "It feels good knowing I am a priority. It will definitely help in the process now that I have a relationship like that." NC State is selling McCormack on the idea that he could make an instant impact his freshman year. "They talk about how I'll be able to play, since there are no bigs," McCormack said. "They'll be losing all their bigs. It's a prime spot for me and the development will be great. They have my best interests in hand." NC State originally offered McCormack in June 2015 after he played at a Wolfpack team camp with Norfolk Academy, his high school for his first two years. Johnson Re-Emerges As Key Target Johnson attended South Hill (Va.) Park View his first two years, and overcame a right ankle surgery his sophomore season. He left his home area to join Huntington (W.Va.) Prep for his junior year, but is re- turning to his home state and will attend Mouth of Wilson (Va.) Oak Hill Academy this year. "Going to Oak Hill will be amazing," Johnson said. "It will be all about bas- ketball and a legendary coach. I'm really looking forward to it and pushing myself to get better for the next level. Being closer to home will be a plus."
