GOLD AND BLACK ILLUSTRATED VOLUME 28, ISSUE 1 46 DeAngelo Yancey DeAngelo Yancey's tenure in Green Bay started slowly, but by Week 2 of training camp, the fifth-round draft choice was start- ing to catch on. That was good news for the former Boiler- maker, as he tries to make the Packers' 53-man roster, and for Green Bay, which is trying to get younger in its skill positions. "When I first got here, it was kind of a curve that I had to get used to," he said from training camp, just before the preseason opener. "The details matter. If you're supposed to be two yards outside the num- bers, make sure you're two yards outside the numbers every time." In his first two preseason games, Yancey totaled three receptions for 67 yards, showing the kind of game-breaking ability that he displayed in his ten- ure at Purdue. "Coming here, I'm trying to do whatever is necessary and making the most out of every opportunity that comes my way," he said. j
