Fall 2017 - 49 www.turftrends.com CULTURAL CONTROL Reduce surface moisture with morning mowing, rolling, dew- whipping or dragging a hose. "Anything you can do to remove the morning dew is a plus," Golembiewski said. "Research has shown that the longer the leaf tissue stays wet the larger the size of the dollar spot itself or the infection center. If you can break up that leaf wetness period, you actually get to reduce the level of symptoms that you see out on a golf course. "And the benefit of rolling goes back to research that was done at Michigan State University. Daily rolling on greens and on fairways reduces the level of dollar spot activity out on a golf course."
