2  IDAHO FALLS PARKS & REC FALL/WINTER 2017 Welcome to autumn 2017 in Idaho Falls! We recently made it through what I can confidently say was the busiest summer in Idaho Falls' history. As I reflect back on three months of community events, I'm still in awe of all the planning, logistics and people involved in making it all happen. The result of all that activity is that Idaho Falls has once again demonstrated that we are a city of activity and action. City residents can always rely on a variety of activities to challenge and invigo- rate both adults and youth—intellectually and physically. Let me offer just a few examples: Switching to a new location at Snake River Landing for the Independence Day activities proved to be ben eficial. The area accommodated the large crowds with ease. The hugely popular Extreme Blue Thunder Air Show was well executed. From what I have been told, our show has since been bragged about in air show and aviation circles throughout the country. These events were followed by the largest opening night in War Bonnet Round Up Rodeo history, complete with an arena full of some of the best cowgirls, cowboys and rodeo per- formers in the nation. The Great American Eclipse was full of challenges and opportunities, but perhaps the greatest opportunity was the statewide collaboration and cooperation that resulted from months of teamwork and planning. We are far more prepared for emergencies than ever before. The Idaho Falls Parks & Recreation Guide you hold in your hands is the perfect tool for planning wintertime fun to keep the entire family active through these chilly winter months. We have also developed other tools to keep you informed of all of our exciting news and events, including our social media pages and the City's new website at www.idahofallsidaho.gov. Now it is easier than ever to stay abreast of city Parks and Recreation Department activities. City residents can even sign up for email notification. Simply click on the Notify Me button on the homepage of our website. As you thumb through these pages, it will be easy to see that our team in the Parks & Recreation Department works hard to ensure community access to excellent facilities and recreational activities throughout the year. Life's busy. When you can, find time to reflect on the won- derful benefit we enjoy as eastern Idaho residents. In the meantime... Be healthy! Be active! Enjoy Idaho Falls!
