"We offer everything hereā€”from diesel performance products to custom tuning, plus engine builds and custom transmission builds for high-horsepower applications," says Caleb Herman, owner. "And, we build drag trucks and pulling trucks." He and his partner help make enthu- siasts' diesel dreams a reality. SELF-STARTER HT Performance has been around for seven years, but Herman's been at the craft for more than a decade. "Ten years ago, I got into trucks," he says, "and I was just doing my own thing. Then friends wanted me to start doing work for them." His passion for quality would lead to big things. "What I learned pretty quickly is that I didn't like how others did the work," he recalls. "I'm pretty picky, so I improvised and started doing things my own way. Now it's a pretty big business and we're doing pretty well all over the country. It's been a long way from helping a friend to building a business." Herman has a dyno in the 4,000-square- foot shop and also does custom fabrica- tion work. One example project was a true truck transformation. "We took a Chevy truck, modified the suspension, built the motor and built the tranny," Herman says. "We use nothing but the highest-quality parts and, in this case, took a 300-hp engine to 800-1,600 hp." It was a project HT Performance saw all the way through. "For a big build like that," he says, "it was two to three months in the machine shop, plus the custom work.
