OCTOBER 2017 THE WOLVERINE 17   INSIDE MICHIGAN ATHLETICS After being a consistent part of Michigan's running back rotation in 2016, junior Karan Higdon figures to take on a similar role in the 2017 Wolverine backfield. He rushed for 425 yards and six touchdowns last year, and will look to expand on those numbers this season. Higdon was one of the first players Jim Harbaugh recruited in his initial class at Michigan in 2015. Here are a few other things you may not have known about him: Nickname: "Higgy. Everybody calls me Higgy." Favorite restaurant in Ann Arbor: "bd's Mongolian Grill." Best meal he can cook by himself: "I can cook a lot of great meals — I'm a great cook. I'll go with homemade jambalaya." Sports he plays besides football: "I used to run track and play basketball, but all my focus is on football now." Hobbies: "I love spending time with my family. I also love traveling and seeing different parts of the world. I just like having fun and being goofy, and sitting with my friends and telling jokes." Favorite TV show: "'SpongeBob' — I love watching SpongeBob." Favorite movie: "'Planet of the Apes.'" Dream vacation: "I would love to go explore Europe for two weeks and hit different countries." Favorite venue he's been to: "The Bill Gates Foundation out in Seattle, Wash- ington — it's a tremendous facility." Favorite professional athlete: "Floyd Mayweather." Role model: "My mom. She's a tremendous, strong woman and has every qual- ity I wish to have." Why he chose Michigan: "Academics. They have a tremendous academic program here." What he hopes to do after football: "I want to be a CRN, a certified nurse." His overall experience at Michigan: "It's been great. I've been a part of three different amazing teams and have been able to see a lot of different venues and facilities, and play some great football here." — Austin Fox Higdon notched the Wolverines' only rushing touchdown of the first two games when he ran into the end zone from three yards out against Florida in the season opener.
