Experimental chatbots have been shut
down recently after it is thought they may
have created their own language that
humans can't understand.
CHATBOTS SHUT OFF
AFTER INVENTING THEIR
OWN LANGUAGE
A decision was made when
these robots, formed by
Facebook and affectionately
named as Bob and Alice, had
to be shut down by experts
after they started talking in a
pattern that although seemed
like gibberish to humans,
clearly had some structure to
it.
Bob: i can i everything
else……………………….
Alice: balls have zero to me to
me to me to me to me to me
to me to me to
Bob: you i everything else
…………………………….
Alice: balls have a ball to me
to me to me to me to me to
me to me
Although this may seem fairly
innocent and an amazing
advancement for technology.
The worry is that these robots
may choose to do bad things,
and if they are discussing these
'things' in a language that we
can't understand, there would
be no way that humans could
stop them
However, it seems for now
that there isn't too much to
worry about, as the experiment
was only shut off to further the
study. As the robots were not
doing the tasks they had been
asked to do, rather than for any
reasons of panic.
These robots purpose for
the moment is to interact with
human beings and to display
characteristics of other people,
which they do seem to be
doing.
