This third movie is focused on the
consequences created by Koba's actions -
both humans and apes are fighting in a war
set in the forest. The losses are terrible.
Caesar's wife and older son are killed by
the Colonel.
In search of vengeance, the king of the
apes decides to go after him in order
to avenge the death of his family, he
is accompanied by Maurice, Luca and
Rocket. Caesar arrives at the Alpha-
Omega camp, but he is unexpectedly
captured.
This leads to a game-changing turn that
will lead to the freedom of the apes.
Matt Reeves directs an intelligent
and suspenseful action movie that not
only explores the development of this
war between species but also creates
a complex portrait of Caesar. As in the
previous movies, Caesar goes far beyond
the stereotype of an ape and he is more
human than human kind itself.
Not only does Matt Reeve shine through
as the director, the cast delivers a strong
performance. Andy Serkis is once again
compelling as Caesar and Woody
Harrelson is the perfect villain of the story.
Michael Giacchino creates once again the
perfect score.
War for the Planet of the Apes is not
perfect: it's a bit too long and there are
some predictable plot twists and narrative
developments, but it's undeniable that it
is an entertaining and smart action movie
that closes a strong and solid trilogy.
WAR FOR THE PLANET OF THE
APES IS A SOLID SEQUEL!
War for the Planet of the Apes is the third installment
of the reboot series directed by Matt Reeves.
