rv-pro.com October 2017 • RV PRO • 19 they want remote Wi-Fi connectivity, Bluetooth and HDMI," Barth says. "On top of that, they want king beds." Meanwhile, the Gen X buyers are buying "everything we sell." Barth fared well in his 2016 predictions for RV PRO about what floorplans would become popular, and he went out on a limb again for the coming year. For 2018, he's projecting good acceptance for the new 25.5REOK, a rear entertainment concept with outside kitchen; and the 30.5CKTS, a center kitchen layout with a wardrobe slide upper deck. This floorplan was previously available in the larger Eagle series, but was brought down to the HT series and will now retail in the $40,000 to $45,000 range. "I am very, very optimistic about the way 2018 is shaping up," says Barth. "Barring some crazy world events none of us can see, everything points to a strong 2018. I see more growth coming in my segment. I think we'll see a very healthy RV industry. "The younger generation is loving the concept of not being so wired in and being obsessed with being busy. They want to be unhooked, but on their own terms," he adds. "It's really healthy to unlatch yourself from your day to day and get in your other home on wheels. That's where the growth will continue to come from. I don't think it will spike but it will be a nice growth pat- tern for years." 0 20,000 40,000 60,000 80,000 100,000 2007 2008 2009 2010 2011 2012 2013 2014 2015 2016 2017 SHIPMENTS Figure 3 Wholesale Shipments of All Fifth Wheels * Through July 31.
