D E A L E R S W hen times are tough, it's easy to focus on the imme- diate – face down the problem at hand and wait for good times to roll around. And when times are good, it's easy to forget the tough times and think times will always be good. Over the past year, members of the RV Dealers Association haven't let that complacency set in. RVDA Chairman Darrel Friesen of All Seasons RV Center in Yuba City, Calif., took up the rallying cry from former Chairman Brian Wilkins at last year's Convention/Expo at Bally's in Las Vegas and made it his top priority to bring the entire industry together – suppliers, manufacturers and dealers – to fix the supply chain problems that were keeping dealers from getting OE replacement/war- ranty parts in a timely fashion. What better time to address a difficult problem than when everybody in the industry is seeing profitable business? Although there is still plenty of work to do to tackle the problem, Friesen says he believes the committee tasked with making recommendations made some serious progress since last year's Convention/Expo. "I felt there was a lot of buy-in from the manufacturers, and that's the group where you can fix the process to amortize data and gather data, which we've never done before," he says. "I think that will help understanding and buy-in from all seg- ments. It will be an ongoing committee that will outlast me as chairman." RVDA President Phil Ingrassia says that those attending the upcoming Convention/Expo, scheduled Nov. 6 through Nov. 9, can look forward to hearing a complete update on how the committee has been progressing over the past year. As dealers gather in Las Vegas for the annual RV Dealers Association Convention/ Expo, a lot of behind- the-scenes work has been done to help the industry keep up with their changing, demanding customers.
