POMONACOPIA 375 S. Main St., Pomona, CA "This is an homage to my father. Back in 2008, he and I displayed our work together at dA Center for The Arts in Pomona. That was a major golden moment in my per- sonal life and it turned out to be a fabulous presentation—we sold 20 of his paintings. In 2015, the day after my father passed away, I was asked by The School of Art and Enterprise in downtown Pomona to paint this newly-acquired building, which would house their new charter middle school. As I was staring at this building across from where we had the joint art show years ago, I realized I needed to do this as a testimony to my father. The swirling cornucopia of pat- terns covers 10,500 square feet and is a nod to the town's rich agricultural history; the colorful shapes represent fruit, the stripes are for the roadways that lead to Pomona, and the arrows symbolize positive direction. It looks like a big birthday cake in person and gives the building tremendous depth." ARTS & ENTERPRISE MURAL SAE Main High School Campus, 295 N. Garey Ave., Pomona "Brando Parada, who is now the chairman of the board of the Pomona Cultural Arts Committee, contacted me to paint the outside of this charter school. It's a fi gurative mural; I wanted to illustrate the art, theater, music and dance that the school teaches. The pro- letariat fi gure is holding a paint brush instead of a sword and I have a work whistle behind him to relate that art is work. I wanted it to be this narrative story about the arts; the large broken chains infl uenced me from pop culture and represent breaking outside of the box and being free to create."
