PAGE 2 Reflecting on the Future | Fall 2017 4 Giving Options Made Easy This Season Now Is the Time Why Your Year-End Support Is Important Year-end giving not only helps MSK finish the year strong and plan for the future with confidence, but it also benefits you. Your gift before the end of the year helps maximize your tax savings. Consider the following ways to provide support to MSK: You can itemize and deduct the amount you're donating, resulting in lower taxable income. If you are unsure whether your gift is tax-deductible, contact your financial advisor. If you give MSK securities or property that you have owned for more than a year that has increased in value, you pay no capital gains tax on the transaction and are entitled to a charitable deduction for its full fair market value. In exchange for your gift of cash, securities, or other assets, you or someone else you choose can receive income for life. When you sell property that has decreased in value from its original price and then donate the cash to MSK, you can reduce your taxable estate and support our research and care.
