Residents of the state of Michigan need to apply for their marriage license in the county in which one of them lives. What you Need to Apply for a Marriage License: 1. Picture identification such as a drivers license
2. Certified copy of your birth certificates (foreign birth certificates need to be translated into English and be notarized)
3. Your parents' addresses and your mothers' maiden names
4. If either person has been divorced, you will need to know the date the divorce was final. If it was within the last 6 months, a copy of the divorce papers that can be left with the clerk is required
