Binghamton's Tone Chop reunites with boom bap producer Frost Gamble for Respect is Earned Not Given, a record that is another great showcase for the talents of both men. Team Salut step out into the forefront as artists in their own rights, with their brand new single 'Hot Property', which features Tion Wayne, Afro B and Eugy. Flying in from the states the Blackstar crew Yasin Bey (aka Mos Def) & Talib Kewli are set to deliver a monstrous set in London on October the 20th at Troxy. Backed by lush synth-keyboard arrangements, percussions and bass-heavy drums, Team Salut provide the perfect hybrid backdrop of afrobeats, UK rap and dancehall music, over which the trio and their friends shine through, to deliver a sure-fire hit! With over 50 million plays already under their belt and production credits on some of the country's biggest records. London-based artist/producer trio Team Salut have been reshaping the British music landscape and culture over the past 18 months. While the likes of J Hus, Kojo Funds and Yxng Bane have undoubtedly been at the artist forefront of the fast-rising UK 'afrowave' movement, Team Salut are, without question, one of its most pioneering behind- the-boards figures. Speaking about the inspiration for their new single Team Salut say, " 'Hot Property' is all about having a good time and feeling special about yourself..." Gaining popularity in the 90's with the release of their LP Mos Def & Talib Kewli Are Black Star, which is now hailed as one of the greatest rap albums of its time. The duo are bound to give us a rare, must-see hip hop event of the year. Drawing eager fans from far and wide with their own solo careers, sharp lyrics & jaw dropping beats, the legendary pair will no doubt bring the house down. Joining Yasin & Talib on the night is born & bred New Yorker Homeboy Sandman, as well as the UK's very own Children of Zeus & Awate. Londoners brace yourselves, this is going to be a show talked about for years to come. TRACK OF THE MONTH: TEAM SALUT EVENT PREVIEW: HIP-HOP HEAVYWEIGHTS YASIN BEY & TALIB KEWLI ARE COMING TO LONDON! Or even take a moment out with the soulful sentimentality of 'In The Streets' or the outro track 'See You Again'. Tone Chop's east coast heritage oozes through his straight up hard, snail-paced delivery, a style that works in perfect sync with relocated Canadian Frost Gamble's chunky mid to late nineties boom bap sound. Tone & Frost's new record hits the notes as if they were any other thoroughly & well established act. Having been underground champs for a minute, they are now looking to fully secure themselves a nice warm seat at the global rap dinner table, with this stellar LP.
