The Review-Mirror October 19, 2017 – 16 Gates to replace a pair at Davis Lock arrived at their destination via water. The 22 foot tall, 10-ton gates had a wide-load escort to the north end of Chaffey's lock, were unloaded by crane and then were floated through the lock and then towed to the end of the lake to Davis Lock to be installed. The Westport and Rideau Lakes community are invited to once again step up and make a differ- ence through donating to the Red Cross. This Sunday, Oct. 22, the Westport Lions beach will be the site of an after- noon of music and outdoor children's games which begins at 2 p.m. Organizer Paul Millar has a goal of raising $20,000 for the Red Cross International Disaster Response Fund by 4 p.m. He has hopes residents will be as generous on Sunday as they were two years ago when a Red Cross fundraiser for Syri- an refuges raised over $40,000 from local resi- dents. The musical line up for the afternoon includes Mike Stichon, Shawn and Dave McCulloch, Turpin's Trail, Jeff Callery, Seamus Cowan, Davin Carlson and Colin Kahn, King of the Swingers, Dave Bal- four and Jamie Campbell, and Chris Morris. The Caribbean themed day will also features a reconstructing a model of Westport, kids games, donations tables with mul- tiple payment options.
