GOLD AND BLACK ILLUSTRATED VOLUME 28, ISSUE 2 59 Rivals.com four-star pros- pect Tyger Campbell, who moved up from the 2019 class to 2018 when he committed to DePaul (following his prep school coach) in the spring, officially visited West Lafay- ette the weekend of Oct. 21, weeks after re-opening his recruitment. Things might be lining up for Purdue to land Rivals. com's No. 66 player in the ris- ing senior class, too, though nothing had been determined within the days immediately following the visit. Campbell, should he land at Purdue along with the pri- or three commitments, would give it a highly regarded class. Williams and Hunter are both four-star prospects, ranked 109th and 126th, respectively, by Rivals.com, which doesn't include Dowuona in its top 150. ESPN ranks Dowuona 87th na- tionally, though. It would also be a well-balanced class, important considering all that Purdue will lose with its outgoing se- nior class — a little of everything. On paper, Williams and Dowuona make for an interesting frontcourt complement, both of them strong re- bounders and physically powerful. Williams, though, will want to prior- itize his conditioning. After a foot inju- ry ended his junior season premature- ly, he played this spring in the vicinity of 300 pounds, part of the reason he's compared himself favorably to Caleb Swanigan and bought into that selling point Purdue laid out in recruiting. Like Swanigan — generally speak- ing, at least — Williams is an outstanding passer for a big man, but also one who can face the basket, handle the ball and shoot some from the perimeter. Dowuona isn't refined as a player yet, having played just two seasons of small-school basketball in Miami after coming over from Ghana. What he is, though, is a po- tential impact defender ear- ly in his career, a physically equipped rim-protector and the sort of shot-blocking pros- pect Purdue hasn't landed since A.J. Hammons in 2012. Hunter might be the most versatile backcourt scor- er Purdue's gotten since E'Twaun Moore and there are www.BobRohrmanSubaru.com Bob Rohrman Subaru Buy a Subaru and Keep Indiana Driving.
