athletics standpoint. I went to Kalamazoo College, a little liberal arts college, and I had none of this Big Ten experience but when I came with Art to Purdue events, I got caught up in how wonderful it is, how it helps these kids get a footing in life, and most of them never forget about Purdue and everything Purdue gave them. So, to be able to have an impact like this, we feel incredibly blessed and we would obviously do more if we could." Over the years, Art and Connie have developed a friendship with Shondell and also have grown fond of some of Purdue's student-athletes. Being around the program as much as they can in West Lafayette and even seeing their favorite Boilermakers compete on the road, the Eulers have made connections with student-athletes like Danielle Cuttino, Azariah Stahl and their families. One student whom they have come to know in particular is Ashley Evans and her family who rarely miss one of her matches. "Ashley Evans is someone that particularly stands out," Connie said. "We've gotten to know her parents at volleyball events. She's just a wonderful young woman who, once she realized we were so interested in volleyball, has made it a point to come up and talk to us and engage us whenever we have met. She never fails to stop and speak with us whether it's here or other places and she always has a hug, a big hi, and a thank you for us. Fueled by the passion for the sport of volleyball and their relationship with Shondell and the student-athletes, the Eulers wanted to make a difference for the program. When it came time that Art needed to begin to take money out of his IRA, it was a no brainer. The Euler's endowed a scholarship for the program and from there it evolved into endowing the head coaching position when they began their estate planning. The Art and Connie Euler Head Volleyball Coach endowment is the first of its kind within Purdue Athletics. "Like anything in life, the more you invest in it, the more you get out of it," Art said. "You think you're giving a whole lot but you actually get so much more in return as when we watch the student-athletes come in a freshmen and then leave as mature young adults. It is incredibly rewarding and we've really enjoyed it."
