NOVEMBER 2017 ■ 131 ■ BASKETBALL RECRUITING "At [the NCSU] team camp, my team won, but at that Big Shots event we viewed it as a revenge game," Bates said. "We were going back and forth the entire time. It was great." Steere half-joked that Team Charlotte "smacked them pretty good" in Charlotte. "It was fun playing against him, and I had to get back at him for whooping my team at NC State's team camp," Steere said. "We are both versatile, and we'll al- leviate a lot of pressure from each other." Bates is excited to play with Steere at NC State and worked him hard about join- ing the Wolfpack. "He is a tremendous athletes and can definitely help me on the rebounds and blocking shots," Bates said. "He can shoot the three some and mid-range, and that will open the floor up." Rivals.com national recruiting analysts Eric Bossi and Corey Evans are curious to see how Bates and Steere play on the court together for the first time this season, which could foreshadow how they will be used at NC State. "If they do play them together, they'll be athletic and they'll be able to rebound, but you'll lose a little bit of skill and ability of having someone step out on the floor and face-up some," Bossi said. "It will be a balancing act between the two." Evans said displaying more of a face-up game is the next stage to Steere's develop- ment, which will help him get ready to play for the Wolfpack in a year. "If he can develop a somewhat consistent face-up game from 12 feet, and also imple- ment one more move to his game with his back to the basket, he could be an NBA pro with his physical intangibles," Evans said. ■ For regular reports on NC State basketball recruiting plus videos of Wolfpack commitments and targets visit TheWolfpacker.com. "I think our style of play this year will be conducive in how they play their games. We are not going to not just put them down on the post because both can go on the outside." ■ Fayetteville (N.C.) Northwood Temple Academy head coach Corey Baker
