PURDUE VS. OHIO ST A TE PHOTO GALLER Y So Close In Columbus Buckeyes escape with win in overtime Photos by Tom Campbell No. 7 Ohio State 29, Purdue 22 (OT) Oct. 20, 2012, Ohio Stadium Urban Meyer looks down after the Boilermakers jumped out to a 6-0 lead on their first play from scrimmage. Had the Boilermakers pulled off the upset, it would have been the highest-ranked conference team Purdue had beaten away from home since it upset No. 5 Michigan 21-20 on Oct. 17, 1964. Caleb TerBush absorbs a wicked hit on the game's first play, but the senior quarterback managed to find Akeem Shavers for an 83-yard touchdown just 17 seconds into the contest. It was the longest scor- ing pass for the Boilermakers since Curtis Painter hooked up with receiver Selwyn Lymon for an 88-yard score in 2006. Ryan Russell had his most active game in a while as he continued his recovery from a knee injury. The sophomore defensive end has had two of his biggest games of his career under the biggest spotlights, with seven tackles at Notre Dame earlier this season and six tackles and a sack against OSU. Punter Cody Webster made the decision on his own to make a run for the first down late in the first quarter. It was the Boilermakers' first successful fake punt in the Danny Hope Era and the first since Anthony Heygood ran 61 yards on a fake in a 48-42 win against Michigan in 2008.
