IRRIGATION GOATTHROAT www.goatthroat.com GoatThroat Pumps Sealed Systems and Closed Loop Systems In this age of increasing chemical regulation and enhanced environmental awareness, GoatThroat Pumps sealed and closed chemical dispensing systems make sense for use with all types of liquids. as their names imply, these systems can deliver fluid from the barrel to point-of-use with minimal or no loss of chemical inventory. Wasting less chemical in any size operation is going to help reduce costs, which leads to an improved bottom line. They also make good business sense because the systems are durable investments rather than throw-away expendables. as such, they deliver better productivity, higher reliability, lower overall total cost of equipment and liquid inventory ownership. an added benefit of NETAFIM USA www.netafimusa.com Apollo High Capacity Filtration Systems for Golf Courses netafim uSa now carries apollo disc-Kleen Filters, new high- capacity water filtration systems designed for use with both dripline and overhead irrigation on golf courses. apollo disc-Kleen Filters ensure that only debris-free water enters the irrigation lines for efficient operation and healthier plant life. Featuring a multi-level filtration process, apollo removes sand, particles, algae and organic materials from water sources such as lakes, ponds, reservoirs, canals, rivers and reclaimed water systems. PENTAIR, INC. www.berkeleypumps.com Pentair touts new high efficiency Berkeley irrigation pumps Pump manufacturer Pentair has recently added a new series of high-efficiency irrigation pumps to its line of Berkeley-branded pumps, motors and controls. The new centrifugal irrigation pumps—offered in 4-, 5-, 6-, 8- and 10-inch versions—are designed for high flow/low head and high flow/medium head applications such as flood and center pivot irrigation, and have efficiencies of up to 85 percent. The pumps are available in a variety of drive configurations, including close-coupled drive, frame mount and Sae engine drive. SEAMETRICS www.seametrics.com WMP-Series Electromagnetic Flow Meter The Seametrics WMP-Series is a full-bore, plastic-bodied elec- tromagnetic flow meter designed for flow- and usage-monitoring applications in 1-, 2- and 3-inch pipe. The polypropylene flow tube offers cor rosion resistance to a wide range of chemicals and fertil- izers. It is light weight and easy to install or remove from the pipe for inspection. With no moving parts, the magmeter permits unobstructed flow, minimizing flow disturbances and straight pipe requirements. The WMP-Series can be used in piping configurations where there is little space between the meter and an elbow or valve. The WMP-Series is resistant to wear from sand and debris found in ground or surface water. Since there are no bearings or pro peller to wear out, maintenance and repair costs are kept to a minimum, and it tolerates high flows without damage. Winter 2012 21 The Berkeley-brand pump features a double volute design, which is said to greatly reduce radial loads and an oversized shaft that minimizes shaft deflection under radial loads, providing bearing life in excess of 20,000 hours on Sae and frame mount models. like all other Berkeley Type-B centrifugal pumps, the new mod- els have a back pullout design that is said to significantly reduce maintenance downtime. a wide range of filter models is available, depend- ing on the size of the irriga- tion system and the number of filters required. Mesh screen densities from 80 to 140 can be specified, depending on water quality (good to very poor). a sealed or closed dispensing sys- tem is that facili- ties will be prac- ticing sustainable, environmental stewardship, while at the same time ensur- ing their big- gest asset, their employees, are not in danger of chemical exposure.
