The Idaho Grower Shippers Association (IGSA), United Growers of Idaho, Southern Idaho Potato Cooperative (SIPCO), IACI, and Potato Growers of Idaho (PGI) will hold their meetings in breakout rooms from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Prior to the meeting, attendees will be able to meet the candidates running for Idaho governor. During lunch, I will present the IPC's fiscal year 2017-2018 marketing plan and show the new commercial that made its debut during the Boise State-Virginia football game that aired live on ESPN in September. At 2 p.m., Michael Thornton and Nora Olsen from the University of Idaho will speak about potato quality. Those of you who heard my presentation at the IGSA meeting in Sun Valley earlier this year know how I feel about this topic—it's the cornerstone of our industry and needs to be a priority for everyone. You can't host a meeting like this without having an inspirational speaker. At 3 p.m., Kory Puderbaugh, a silver medalist in the Rio Paralympics for wheelchair rugby, will share his story with attendees. Puderbaugh, an Eagle High School graduate, was the youngest member of the U.S. wheelchair rugby team at the Rio Games. He scored 10 goals during the final match against Team Australia, which the U.S. lost, 59- 58, in double overtime. Puderbaugh spent his early life in a Polish orphanage before coming to the U.S. He trains with the San Diego Sharp wheelchair rugby team in California and is preparing to compete for gold at the Tokyo Paralympics. Wrapping up the afternoon will be presentations by industry leaders: Blair Richardson, president and CEO of Potatoes USA, and John Keeling, executive vice president and CEO of the National Potato Council. The day will wrap up with a reception at 5 p.m., followed by dinner including a PAC auction conducted by PGI. I'm confident this new format will provide a unique opportunity for all of us to meet after the harvest and spend an entire day focused on industry issues. I have no doubt it will be worthwhile for everyone who attends. I look forward to seeing you.
