WELCOME TO ARE A VI
Welcome to Area VI and beautiful Long Beach,
California!
On behalf of all of us in Area VI, we warmly welcome you
to beautiful Long Beach, California. Area VI consists of the
geographical locations of California and Hawaii and is
home to over 20 recognized competitions annually. With
over 100 members in our Young Rider program and over 300
members actively involved in our Adult Rider program, Area
VI members successfully compete across the countr y and
represent our countr y internationally as members of Team
USA.
This area of Southern California is rich in things to see and do. At the USEA Board of
Governors and Area VI Welcome Party on December 7th at 7:00 p.m., we will have an
opportunity to introduce you to the amazing Long Beach Aquarium and share with you a
"Histor y of Area VI Eventing" documentar y. The majestic Pacific Ocean is a short walk
from there, and convention guests receive a free ticket for a tour of the Queen Mar y. Jump
aboard the Catalina Express to tour Catalina Island or enjoy an afternoon at the Earl James
Miller Japanese Garden.
The USEA staff has been working hard to make this year's USEA Annual Meeting and
Convention an informative and exciting one, with speakers and seminars, meetings and
vendors, and displays and parties. The Convention provides an opportunity for each of us to
spend time with old friends and make new acquaintances. I hope you will take advantage of
those opportunities this week.
Please reach out to me (and other Area VI members) if there is anything we can do to
make your week as fulfilling as possible. Enjoy the festivities planned each night as
we cheer on our year end award winners as well as celebrate the end of a successful 2017
and kick off an exciting 2018 eventing year. Eventers know how to party, so make the most
of this special time together!
