The overwhelming response from the commu- nity made it a tremendous success. Thank you to our many volunteers who braved the cold on Satur- day to help collect dona- tions. We collected over 24 cases of food and $7500 in donations. special tHanks to Gor- danier's Freshmart for the use of its parking lot and store, the advertising before the event, and its substantial contribution. Thanks also go to the elgin Lioness', elgin Lions Club, Portland Community Cloth- ing Co-op, Jane Monaghan Law Office, Rideau Lakes Building Center, South Crosby Friendship Club, Royal Canadian Legion, Morton Community Hall, Smiths Falls H & R Block & Mainly Antiques as well as the many individuals who contributed. In our 50 years in the Westport area we enjoyed so many happy times, but I failed to realize how many of you accepted us as friends. I will not name names lest my memory lets me down. The church service with verbal accalaids and beautiful music, the won- derful reception at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #542, Westport and so, so, many hugs and condolences. And so many cards.
