One of the pre-race festivities that was open to the public was the Monster Energy Street Party at Papas & Beer held the evening of November 14th. The crowd was much larger than many of the SCORE race fans and teams have seen in the past, with wall-to-wall people celebrating the 50th anniversary of the race and enjoying mingling with some of the Monster Energy sponsored teams in attendance that included Matt Burroughs, Casey Currie, the Terrible Herbst team, BJ Baldwin, the OX Motorsports team, and of course Papas & Beer owners Team Ampudia. Many of the vehicles were also on display during the event, and racers who attended signed autographs and took photos with fans during the celebration.
While the DJ’s spun music and the Monster Energy Girls danced and gave away swag, racing teams were also treated to a private showing of the Dust 2 Glory film. Dust 2 Glory was directed by Dana Brown and is the culmination of an 18-month project that was about the 2016 SCORE World Desert Championship Series. The documentary movie follows several racers in their preparation and testing culminating at the 2016 SCORE Baja 1000. Many race teams enjoyed the private screening before the movie was released to the public on December 6th across many movie theaters nationwide. SJ
