6 THE PITCH FOR ROCK CLIMBING O ver the last twenty years the viewpoints on physical fitness have changed dramatically. In 2014 alone, over 15 million people participated in organized recreational sports. Recreation centers have capitalized on this by incorporating some of the newest and finest equipment. One such beneficiary has been rock climbing. Rock climbing walls often provide as much revenue as main attractions without the hassle, stress, and maintenance. They occupy unused facility space and turn it into profit. Climbing walls are being implemented at colleges and rec centers, and the results have been tremendous, fast becoming the new norm in the recreational sports industry. SET UP Walls do not take long to construct. Depending on size, development and construction can take less than a month. Small, portable walls can even be taken up or down in a few hours to make room for events. Rock climbing walls are adaptable to all sizes of facilities.
