Pantone has done something different this year for its Spring 2018 Color Palette. You'll find, in addition to the 12 colors (including the Color of the Year), there is also a non-seasonal palette of four hues. While the color palette be- gins in the fashion industry, it carries over into all retail forms, from paint on the wall to person- alized gifts. Color is on the minds of consumers, especially as a form of self-expression. Pantone notes in its report, "The color story is wildly divergent and we see a kaleidoscopic bounty of uplifting shades and feel-good tones. There is a feeling of optimism and confidence driving a new vitality into fashion trends. That doesn't mean that we don't continue to look for more neutral or classic shades as, while simple, these core basics are seasonal essentials, working well on their own as well as providing the landscape for the color complexity." This palette has mul- tiple shades of red, which is unlike years past. Saturated and vibrant colors can really stand out when used with dye-sublimation.
