The rest of the group will sign Feb. 7, the traditional date on the first Wednesday of February. The Big Ten Tournament is heading to the Big Apple, as the 14 league schools will square off in Madison Square Garden Feb. 28-March 4. Then, it'll be a long wait 'til the NCAA Tournament, which starts 11 days later. Coming off a surprising 29-win season in the debut of Coach Mark Wasikowski, Year 2 in his tenure begins Feb. 16 at Baylor in Waco, Texas. The home opener is more than a month later, when Purdue hosts Lipscomb for a three-game series March 23-25. Jeff Brohm signed 22 new Boilermakers on Dec. 20, the first day of the NCAA's new early signing period. Of the 22, three will enroll at Purdue for the spring semester: Quarterback Jack Plummer, receiver Amad Anderson and defensive lineman Jeff Marks. Matt Painter, in his 14th year as a head coach, hit career win No. 300 on Dec. 10 with a 25-point victory over IUPUI in Mackey Arena. Painter became the 15th coach in NCAA history to hit the mark in 14 seasons or fewer. Streak over. The Boilermakers finally beat Butler, ending a five-game losing skid to the in-state rival dating to 1998, with an 82-67 win in the Crossroads Classic Dec. 16. Purdue improved to 2-5 in the Indianapolis event, having won the last two vs. Notre Dame and the Bulldogs.
