A
ndreona Keys feels pushed.
The senior appreciates the way that Jennifer Jones, Purdue's new
director of strength and conditioning, has created an inviting family
atmosphere in the Boilermakers' weight rooms. It pulls her in, then pushes
her to excel.
"(She's) not a person who is just yelling at you to run a sprint," Keys said.
"We feel comfortable, we want to do it, even though it's hard. So having that
connection with her, it really helps."
At Purdue, Jones is in charge of strength and conditioning for all sports
aside from football — Justin Lovett has his own staff for Jeff Brohm's pro-
gram — and directly oversees the women's basketball team. The latter is a
comfortable position for the former volleyball player at Michigan State, after
she spent the last 13 years working with Gary Blair's women's basketball pro-
gram at Texas A&M.
There, she was able to cultivate a style that includes multiple aspects of an
athlete's performance.
