GOLD AND BLACK ILLUSTRATED VOLUME 28, ISSUE 3 52 Drew Brees In taking the Saints back to the postseason, Drew Brees passed several individual milestones, as well. The quarterback is only the third in NFL history, joining Brett Favre and Peyton Man- ning, to have thrown for more than 70,000 yards in his career. And now, with 70,445 for his career, he's on pace to pass Manning (71,940) for first place by the middle of next sea- son. Brees is the quickest to 70,000, having done so in 248 career games. Brees is also again the NFL record-hold- er for completion percentage, at 72 percent, surpassing the mark of 71.6 percent by Min- nesota's Sam Bradford last season. Brees had previously held the mark following the 2011 and 2009 seasons. Ryan Russell Ryan Russell took advantage of his in- creased playing time late in the season. The third-year pro, who started six of Tampa Bay's last seven games, had sacks in the last two weeks of the season, including against Brees in the finale. "It's been awesome," Russell said in De- cember, before the end of the Bucca- neers' 5-11 season. "The season is not going the way we want it to. There are things I've learned through the season that I need to keep improving on to help this team, especially with an expanded role I've had. So it's been a huge learning ex- perience. It's been a huge bless- ing. … There's definitely positives to take out of this. Finish the season strong, and in the offseason, I have a lot of work to do." Russell, a 6-foot-5, 275-pound defensive end, totaled 17 tackles with two sacks while making seven starts in 14 games. — Kyle Charters Tampa Bay Buccaneers #64 OT Kevin Pamphile #96 DE Ryan Russell New Orleans Saints #9 QB Drew Brees Dallas Cowboys #30 CB Anthony Brown Carolina Panthers #99 DT Kawann Short Atlanta Falcons #37 S Ricardo Allen Seattle Seahawks #56 DE Cliff Avril #64 G Jordan Roos Washington Redskins #91 LB Ryan Kerrigan BOILERS The following is a look at former Boilermakers who are on rosters this season Photos courtesy of New Orleans Saints and Tampa Bay Buccaneers Tennessee Titans #71 G/T Dennis Kelly San Francisco 49ers #31 RB Raheem Mostert Green Bay Packers #16 WR DeAngelo Yancey New England Patriots #74 OL Jason King Kansas City Chiefs #31 RB Akeem Hunt
