Lewis, Craig Petersen, Ben Ruggles, Dave Wescott D E S I G N E R S Mike DeArmond, Brandon Favre, Annie Gernes, Kelsey Cherwinka hat another great year for ice facilities and their members. As most do, reflecting back on 2017 we are proud to witness the continued growth of the ice industry as well as our own continued growth. As most of you recall, on Jan. 1, 2017 we officially transitioned from Serving The American Rinks (STAR) to doing business as the United States Ice Rink Association. With the name change came updates and improvements to many facets of our work. As you will notice, most of those benefits relate to our members. If you or your organization are not a current U.S. Ice Rink Association member, take a look at page 34 for a list of all the valuable benefits that we offer to our members, including an annual subscription to RINK Magazine. Speaking of educational opportunities, the 2018 North American Rink Conference & Expo (NARCE) brochure is included in the middle of this issue. The 16th annual event will once again be held at the Hyatt Regency, May 22-25 in downtown Columbus, Ohio. In addition to the industry-leading educational courses offered at NARCE, the opportunity to network with hundreds of your peers and interact with the leading vendors in our industry can't be missed. Shortly after NARCE ends we will be holding Regional Training Programs at multiple facility member rinks around the country starting in late-spring and ending in the fall. We will be accepting host applications through Jan. 15, at usicerinks.com/education. Finally, I would like to thank the nearly 650 individuals that invested in their future as ice rink industry professionals by attending one or more of our courses in 2017. I would also like to congratulate those individuals that earned a U.S. Ice Rink Association professional designation this past year. The class of 2017 was made up of: 13 - Certified Ice Rink Manager (CIRM) 22 - Certified Rink Administrator (CRA) 57 - Certified Ice Technician (CIT) — Jeff Theiler, Chief Operating Officer, United States Ice Rink Association We're Bringing Members More in 2018 W To name a few we are particularly proud of: • We launched a new website, which includes several tools for our members, and a members-only resource area. • We started to send five issues of RINK Magazine to each Facility Member as an extension of their current benefits. And we're not done yet. Over the next year we will be providing our members with new resources. Beginning in 2018 we will offer: • An online member discussion forum. • Online self-study resources for individuals that plan to take the CIT recertification exam. • More opportunities to take the exam during the year.
