My current time management software is an App called ToDoIst (www.todoist. com). It's the best I've seen for current day application. One reason I like it so much is because it allows me to build a template in Excel that schedules a whole list of items that must be done in advance of an event. So, for future 20 Group meetings, I put a date in a pre-built Excel template and import it into ToDoIst. From there, it adds the tasks of a checklist to my daily list. It's really slick. Checklists Provide Discipline I believe it is critical to any business that the leader applies consistent direction and over-watch over the long periods of time. The folks you are leading will not see the desired direction the first, second, or more times that you point it out. Checklists provide discipline. Using them promotes diligence. Notably, they are different than goals. The mission sets the direction and the goal set the tasks. Remember that this column is about being more tactical. We may cover the way goals work in a future column. Common Examples of Checklists Surely, you have all seem many exam- ples of checklists. Let me list a few before getting into the main part of this topic. 1. Daily, Weekly, Monthly, Annual (DWMA) checklists. Often, these are made up for each department head. I've used them as a way to get all the necessary tasks done on time. Let me add that Andy Heck from Alpin Haus tweaked me on this one.
