I have even engraved name plates for horse stalls. There are many other animals kept as pets. Consider partnering with veterinar- ians, pet shops, groomers, and stores that sell pet supplies. The longer an animal spe- cies lives, the greater the opportunity for an owner to bond with the animal, whether they are considered a pet or a farm animal. If they name it, they will likely bond. Another significant pet memorial product to sell is the pet urn. This niche requires either partnering with a pet urn maker or carrying a reasonable inventory of urns. Pet urns are generally needed quickly, so a good inventory is important, or you need a source where product can be shipped within a day or two. Keep in mind that this niche requires a significant ongoing marketing effort, and many urns require an etched photo. Having a book available to your customers with quotes about pets and graphics is a great way to enhance your niche offering. Samples of laser engraved photos are also important. PEOPLE MEMORIALS People memorials offer a wide variety of niches. Urns are a fast-growing segment as burial costs have grown dramatically. The vast majority of urn engraving orders are placed by crematories or mortuaries. Occasionally, I have an order directly from a family. I have partnered with a local urn builder who sells to more than a half-dozen A cast plaque paid for by employees memorializing a tree for all family members of this city's employees. A garden memorial in honor of an employee.
