10 THE GUESTLIST NETWORK www.guestlist.net Issue 45 / 2012 Every month we bring you the greatest free events; The Rain Room & Marilyn Monroe Exhibition prove to be the best things in life to do for free this month. BEST THINGS IN LIFE ARE FREE THE RAIN ROOM A beautiful and surreal experience at the Barbican. Ever wondered what it would feel like to possess the powers of an omnipotent god? The Barbican Centre brings you the Rain Room at the Curve, a 100 square metre field of rainfall that the public are invited to walk into. The innovative digital-based contemporary art uses sensors that detect where visitors are standing to stop the rain around them, giving them an experience of how it might feel to control rain. It is an exercise of trust into the creators of this technology, creating the juxtaposed feelings of both power and vulnerability. THE FLUID BAR Founded back in 1998, this late night bar and restaurant remains a best-kept secret in the heart of the city. When one thinks of Clerkenwell, the first venue that undoubtedly comes to mind is Fabric but, as any clubber with a finger on the pulse will tell you, nestled further up the same street is the popular 250-capacity. Opened way back in 1998, this hidden gem has long held its own as both the pre-club bar of choice or late night venue in its own right. Open till 4am, Fluid boasts two floors of Djs, competitively priced cocktails, Sam- uel Adams Ale and Guinness on tap and an eyebrow raisingly decent DJ programme for an average door charge of no more than a fiver. Highlights in the coming months include Aidan Lavelle (Crosstown Rebels) launching his new night Techstyle on No- vember 10th, Soulful House supremo Neil Pierce (Fanatix) on November 2nd, Fluid even offers free entry before 9pm both Fri- day and Saturday and with a reliable pro- gramme of deep house, techno, funk and nu-disco Djs week-in, week out. You'd do well to check-in soon!
