Death to Weeds An extra scythe in hand GONE ARE THE DAYS WHEN EVERY WEED THROUGHOUT AN ENTIRE FIELD HAD TO BE CUT DOWN BY HAND, ONE BY ONE. BACK-BREAKING, PAINFUL WORK FOR VERY LITTLE NOTICEABLE REWARD. HERBICIDES DO THE WORK, KILLING WEEDS THAT WOULD OTHERWISE BE A LOGISTICAL NIGHTMARE. THE FOLLOWING ARE A FEW OF THE HERBICIDES TO CONSIDER IN YOUR NEVER-ENDING BATTLE AGAINST WEEDS. VALENT CHATEAU: Chateau Herbicide provides broad-spectrum, pre-emergence residual protection against annual broadleaf weeds, including annual nightshades. The recent chemigation label means even greater application flexibility for growers who may now apply Chateau via ground, air or center- pivot irrigation. Chemigation means immediate activation of Chateau into the soil. Chateau offers growers excellent rotational flexibility. Chateau is labeled for use in many western potato growing states. See supplemental label for details. SELECTMAX: Select Max Herbicide with Inside Technology is a unique formulation that dramatically outperforms other post-emergence grass herbicides. With increased excellent uptake and translocation, Select Max offers growers the fastest and most powerful way to control annual grasses and volunteer wheat. With adjuvant and tank-mix flexibility as well as excellent crop safety, Select Max is a post-emergence herbicide that offers total performance. SYNGENTA CROP PROTECTION BOUNDARY: Containing two active ingredients, Boundary herbicide is a soil-applied, early-season herbicide that optimizes weed control while offering excellent crop tolerance and rotation flexibility. Boundary is active on a variety of weeds, including many annual broadleaves, grasses and sedges. SEQUENCE: Sequence herbicide is a foliar, systemic herbicide that may be applied to control a broad spectrum of emerged weeds. It also provides residual control of many grasses and small-seeded broadleaf weeds, including bristly starbur, common lambsquarters, eastern black nightshade, fall panicum, foxtails, johnsongrass, pigweed and velvetleaf, among others. Organic growers now have a viable alternative to costly hand weeding, flame weeding, mowing and cultivating in their battle to control weeds. GreenMatch is non-selective, and controls most annual and perennial weeds, both grasses and broadleaves. The active ingredient in GreenMatch is d-limonene, or citrus oil extract, a powerful, natural degreasing agent that strips away the waxy cuticle from weeds, causing fast wilting (necrosis), dehydration and death. Improved uptake and superior control of tough broadleaf weeds in potatoes like waterhemp, pigweed, nightshade and lambsquarters make Outlook an excellent choice. Outlook requires just 1/4-inch of rain for activation. Yet, even under the wettest conditions, it binds tightly to the soil to minimize leaching. In potatoes, Outlook can be applied pre-emergence following planting or after drag-off via ground or aerial equipment. It can also be tank-mixed with Prowl H2O herbicide for total pre-emergence weed control. Outlook delivers excellent crop safety, application flexibility and performs in all types of weather, tillage and environmental conditions. PROWL: Prowl H2O herbicide is suited for growers looking for long-lasting, broad-spectrum residual weed control. A selective herbicide, Prowl H2O controls most annual grasses and certain broadleaf weeds as they germinate. Prowl H2O dramatically reduces weed escapes and the need for multiple applications. It may be applied at pre-emergence, pre-emergence incorporated or early post- emergence stages via ground, air or chemigation and can be tank-mixed with Outlook herbicide for total pre-emergence weed control.
