Meet the Experts CONTRIBUTORS JUAN ALVAREZ Juan Manuel Alvarez has a Ph.D. in Entomology from the University of Florida and is an Associate Professor of Entomology at the UI Aberdeen R&E Center. He conducts research in Integrated Pest Management with a commod- ity responsibility for potatoes and cereal. He has published 5 book chapters, more than 30 refereed publications and multiple popular press publica- tions. DAVID FAIRBOURN David Fairbourn is manager of industry communications and policy at the United States Potato Board in Denver. TOM QUALEY Tom Qualey farms with his brother John. They’ve owned and operated Three Oak Farms, and he’s very active in the industry. He’s a past president and director of the Maine Potato Board, the Agricultural Marketing Council and a past director of the Maine Potato Growers. Tom is currently the USPB Immediate Past Chairman. FRANK MUIR Frank Muir is the president and CEO of the Idaho Potato Commission. RICHARD SEXTON Richard Sexton is a professor in the Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics at the University of California, Davis.
