Although nearly a dozen dealers who originally signed up to attend the 31st annual event were unable to attend, some 139 dealers still made it to the show, which represented a minor increase from last year's dealer attendance numbers, according to Northern Wholesale General Manager John Perron. "This year, dealers were taking the effort to make sure they got to our show," he said. "It was just nice to see the new dealer blood that was there walking around." The inclement weather also did not prevent vendors in the Treasure Island's 30,000-square-foot ballroom from locking in deals with customers. In fact, Perron said that many transac- tions took place an hour earlier than expected, on the evening of Wednesday, Jan. 8. "It used to be (opening night was) more of a preview night, people looking around. Dealers came in ready to go," Perron said of buyers at this year's show. Vendors that were at their booths early closed sales with dealers before the show opened, he added. "I walked around and, sure enough, there's dealers at booths getting their orders keyed in." Many dealers, Perron said, arrived a day earlier in order to make many of the educational seminars taking place Jan. 8. Almost 200 individuals signed up for the seminars this year, according to Perron, who noted that products can change year- to-year, and with them a slew of technical changes. "High-tech gas appliances that need to have this flow, or that regulation," he said, listing a variety of important reasons why to attend a seminar. "It used to be there were one or two regulators you choose from and stuck them on an RV and you were covered. Now there's a dozen. There's different gas line arrangements, and ways to test them."
