Room 3 11:00am–11:30am Grow Your Own Teachers Austin ISD is preparing high quality teachers for our future. Students and teachers will describe their programs across Austin. Community member and activist Rocio Villalobos will explain importance of community involvement to help boost these programs while strengthening community ties. 12:00pm–12:30pm A New Approach to Reduce Dropouts: Teens for Teens Live It Out is a non-profit run by teens for teens. Its mission is to reduce dropouts by helping teens discover their potential through leadership, communication, creativity, and energy skills. 1:00pm–1:30pm Scientist in Residence: In-Classroom STEM Mentors Hear a K–12 teacher, a STEM graduate student, and the Scientist in Residence program director share the impact of STEM role models consistently in the classroom. 2:00pm–2:30pm Startup: 21 st Century Intrapreneurship Round Rock High School students run a print and design business which has revenue growth of 258% since 2014. Learn how they leverage community partnerships to become successful. FREE & OPEN TO THE PUBLIC PROGRAMMING Explore free and open to the public programming aligned with the SXSW EDU Learning Expo located on Level 1 in Room 3, Exhibit Hall 4, and Ballroom B. Ballroom B 12:00pm–6:00pm Choose Your Own Learning Adventure! presented by PBS Get a taste of the SXSW EDU experience — or enhance it — by joining PBS and the Edcamp Foundation for a unique professional learning experience. Start with lunch. Then choose to explore the SXSW EDU Learning Expo, or stay and play! End by rejoining the group for an exclusive SXSW EDU PBS Edcamp — a participant-driven session where you make your own choices about your professional learning, share your best ideas, and learn from peers.
