amount of preparation before a race.
For Ryan Reed, however, driver of the
Roush Racing, Lilly/American Diabetes
Association race car, preparation for a race also
includes making sure his blood sugar levels stay in a
safe range throughout the race.
Reed was diagnosed with Diabetes at age 17, but
that didn't stop him from wanting to pursue a racing
career. "I grew up in California where I began my
racing career. I started to get sick and not feel great,"
said Reed. "I began to have frequent thirst, but didn't
think much of it." At that time, Reed was asked to drive
