Drivers using the ERoad in-ve- hicle device are led through the inspection process to help ensure that a vehicle or trailer is in a safe and optimal condition before and aer operation. "Drivers reporting defects on Inspect save time on data entry, and with a three-step certification process, tractor and trailer unit defects are resolved more quickly with fewer errors, giving you faster turnaround on repairs," said Norm Ellis, president of ERoad North America. e DVIR includes several steps: • Vehicle inspection: A guided inspection process using a series of one-touch interactions to report defects or damage; • Defect reports: A separate DVIR history, electronically signed by the driver and submitted to the carrier, for each tractor and trailer to identify vehicles in danger of violating regulations or in need of maintenance; and • Corrective action and certification of repairs: Integrated communications between drivers and shops to certify that any defects listed on the DVIR that would affect the safe operation of the vehicle are repaired. – Aaron Huff TomTom rebuilds fleet management, in-cab products T omTom Telematics an- nounced a new fleet management product lineup featuring a rebuilt Soware-as- a-Service WebFleet system with new features and a more intuitive user experience with advanced customization capabilities. e company said the revamped soware can be coupled with a new range of TomTom Pro driver terminals for job dispatch, rout- ing, navigation and traffic information. e WebFleet interface is designed to facilitate faster development and deployment of connected partner applications, enabling the technology to adapt and evolve according to customers' needs.
