Line up for the parade, which has grown each year, is at the Beer Store. There is no registration and everyone is welcome to join in the festivities. Elgin Outdoor Rink fundraiser The South Crosby Recreation Committee is hosting a St. Patrick's Day dance to celebrate the expansion of the Elgin Outdoor Rink and acknowledge the hard work of the committee and volunteers in their fundraising efforts. South Crosby councillor Claire Gunnewiek is pleased that "we have successfully raised the money to improve the rink to a four-season athletic venue and will have a concrete pad engineered and installed in 2018 for tennis, badminton, ball hockey, skateboarding and pick- le ball as well as winter skating." But there are still more items on the wish list for the rink such as plumbing improvements for ice-making, and installing siding on the outside of the boards to make the rink more attractive. While admission to the dance is free, rink donations will be gratefully accepted. The dance will take place at the Elgin Lions Hall this Saturday beginning at 7:30 p.m., and is an all-ages event. "We have prizes to give away, lots of people are mak- ing sandwiches, the Lions will be running the bar, and six-piece band Roarshack will be playing classic rock along with some Irish songs for the occasion," said Gunnewiek.
