"As a new club owner in Palm Beach, there had to be a lot of handshak- ing and customer interaction," Tomkovich admits. "Customers accustomed to this area expect to be treated special. For being rather large, it's a close community. But once you establish your business and deliver what you say you will, well then you've proven yourself. You're accepted." Over a two-and-a-half-month period, the club was rechristened as Emper- ors (sharing its name with three other South East locations), and underwent a vast remodeling phase. The first area Tomkovich attacked was Emperor's entranceway, followed by the bathrooms, then new carpet installed through- out the club thanks to Kristen Messick and Alpha Patterned Carpet. New lighting and sound followed, though the building's electrical system re- mained untouched. Tilt wall construction was used in the 7,500 square foot facility. Inside, the main stage features a 30-foot dance pole centerpiece, a satellite stage, 20 lap dance booths and six champagne rooms. As well as being a full- nude, full-liquor venue, it is also a full-service steakhouse with an 18-person staff (on average), along with a roster of 35 entertainers on a weekend night.
