less than two
weeks after the deadliest mass shooting
in recent U.S. history, the Las Vegas
Golden Knights hit the ice for their first
home game. Team introductions were
not business as usual. First responders
lined up in front of the players to be
honored. Defenseman Deryk Engelland
told ESPN, "It's the least we could do
having them out here."
The T-Mobile Arena they were
skating at was less than a mile away from
where a shooter killed 58 people and
injured 851 more last fall at a country
music festival. The boards missed their
usual advertising; they instead displayed
